. . . I think Smith is going to turn out to be one of the seminal religious historians of the 20th century . . .
Well, he is certainly right about cellphones, although part of his disdain may be that they make it ever harder to keep the attention of students in class when their eyes are fixed primarily on their cellphones.
Religion is boring. It’s not that my job is more interesting, but at least it pays the mortgage and college tuitions. When that’s all said and done, I can get back to the interesting stuff. But it’s not religion. Not for me, anyway.
Well don’t come crying to me on Judgement Day. Definitely on the Final Exam.

A couple of summary executions would nip that in the bud.

The cellphone really has gotten out of hand. I imagine we who remember a time before will be permitted to slowly die off and then the New World will have begun.
That, of course, is a pun. A big part of the problem with cellphones is precisely the they are only rarely out of ones hand.

Speaking of “New World,” Mike Wallace interviewed Aldous Huxley about the threat on an actual “Brave New World” coming into fruition. It is now available on YouTube:
There is nothing in his discussion about ideology. It is the technology that he focuses on. Well, that and overpopulation.
There are other Huxley videos in addition to this one
