Hello from Chris Huntley,
Did you know that the book of Acts is often seen as a straightforward record of early Christian history? But there’s so much more to it than meets the eye. For example, what if I told you that Acts may actually blend history with theological storytelling in order to illuminate the rise of Christianity? In our new online course, “The Genius of the Acts of the Apostles,” bestselling author and renowned New Testament scholar Dr. Bart Ehrman takes you beyond the surface to explore these nuances in depth. Unlock the Complexities of Acts: Is Acts just a historical account, or does it go beyond facts to offer profound insights about the early church and the apostles? How does it reveal the role of divine intervention, Paul’s transformative mission, and the growth of the Christian movement? Join Bart as he unpacks these questions and more, shedding light on the strategic brilliance of Acts and its relevance today. >> Click here to register or learn more Key Questions Explored:

For Paul and obviously already for early Christians before him the term εὐαγγέλιον, in itself a customised term for any kind of (official) letter, was a convenient way of summarizing and abbreviating the core of Jesus’ proclamation and of what following Jesus was about, scholar Reimund Bieringer wrote recently. Mark wrote his text later than Paul. Has Mark been influenced by Paul’s εὐαγγέλιον, in what way and how far?
It’s debated. I doubt if the author of Mark knew Paul’s letters but much of his theology is similar to Paul’s; whether there is a direct influence or not I’d say is impossible to know.
