And the question is implicit–why do you care?
Actually, there’s another implicit question–if you wonder why I bother to talk to you–why do you talk to me?
Most of the posts I make are are responses to people who respond to me–often aggressively. Theists, atheists, whatever you are (none of my business)–you all have your bones to pick. But all I ever wanted was a good conversation, a true exchange of views. In this, I have mainly been frustrated. None of you really want to learn. You just want to pontificate. (If I wanted a pontiff, I’d have remained a practicing Catholic–you guys don’t have the creds).
Just stop responding to me, and my posts will decline rapidly, the membership will lapse, and my voice shall be heard no more about the land.
And you’lll just go back to tiresome back and forths that never lead to anything remotely interesting, and are read by virtually no one but yourselves.

I actually don’t remember you telling me that before, but thanks.
I enjoyed our earlier conversations, and I’m sorry we ended up getting on each others’ nerves, but that’s a frequent thing in online conversation, where it’s easy for each poster to misread the other, due to the lack of vocal and facial cues. I’m sure you wonder at some of my proclivities, and I wonder about yours. But how we waste time on the internet is a very personal choice.
My decision has a lot of motivations, as most decisions do. I’ve learned a lot here (more on the main blog). I’ve developed my conception of Jesus quite a bit–my primary interest. But Bart has been veering more and more to other subjects, in which I’m less interested. That’s understandable, and it’s his blog. But even if I want to participate there, for reasons I don’t understand, my work PC can’t post there. That led me to post more frequently here (I hardly posted to this forum at all my first few years as a subscriber–I’m only here because bren insisted we finish a debate we started over there on the forum–blame him).
Law of diminishing returns–more and more, it gets repetitive, going over the same ground, unprofitably. The time investment is less and less rewarding.
I very much want to discuss Bart’s new book–on the main blog and here. Just enough time to do that before my membership lapses. I don’t see any equally interesting works from him on the horizon. I could always come back later, if any appear.
And just FYI, I also discuss politics, literature, TV shows (much less than I used to), and who knows what might be next? On top of everything else, we got a puppy last year, and she needs a lot of exercise. I could do with some myself.
But why not retain your membership and simply not post? It’s only $25 a year and it goes to charity. Hell you can do good and not even read the blog. or do like I did and take a break. I went two months without posting in the membership forum. It’s easy and refreshing not to have an opinion about everything.

That’s why you’re here, Stephen? For the charities? All of which accept contributions on their own websites, btw. 🙄
If I’m subscribing to a blog, I’m sure as hell participating. That’s like asking why not send money to PBS when you never watch it (I used to watch it all the time, and then I contributed). I have, btw, occasionally made additional contributions. And I also give money on my own, to charities of my own choice.
It’s oddly touching that you’re so concerned about my leaving. I feel like Alan Bates in The King of Hearts. If war breaks out, maybe I’ll come knocking, seeking sanctuary. But then again, none of you are exactly Genevieve Bujold. 😉

Sorry, but Galileo and JP Morgan are not good references to support your appeal to the “holographic nature of physics and consciousness and the Quantum Physics of Astrology” and “science’s anchoring the observer in Quantum Physics via entanglement.”
If there was an award for “Most unnecessary sentence typed into the internet” for 2020, I’d gladly enter this. (I could no doubt be a contender for that award, but it’s bad form to nominate yourself.)

I feel like such a swine. How could anyone do this just for the charities?

You make it sound like an act of revenge.
But wasted on those who can’t understand it.
godspell could you direct me to one of your posts that exhibits your sense of humor?

The ones where I pretend to take you seriously? 🙂
Name one blog you ever subscribed to that you didn’t post on.
And explain to me why I can’t send money to Urban Ministries of Durham (for example) without being on this blog?
Or some entirely different charity of my choice.
Bart raises money for charity here because people do want to read all his posts (not yours, or mine), and get involved in discussing them. They do not sign up to use this forum, which most subscribers avoid like the proverbial plague. I was here for several years before I started participating on this forum, entirely because bren wanted to continue one of our Matthean priority scraps here. You can thank him. And you can take the stick out your butt anytime you want. 😀
