If you’re a blog member and are either in or able to get to London just now: are you interested in getting together for a blog dinner? If we can get 3-4 (or more!) people together, I’d be happy to do it.
It would need to be one of the evenings of Sunday July 11 to Thursday July 15.
In either central London or Wimbledon (where I reside when over here).
No obligations other than:
-
- Being a blog member
- Showing up
- Talking
- Paying for your meal.
If you’re interested, do NOT reply here as a comment. Send me an email at [email protected]
If you’re not around here just now, hey, our day may come!
This is without exception, a fabulous invitation. To be able to sit, outdoors, in London, and shoot the breeze with one of the great Professors of N.T. studies, in my view, over a delicious meal. I can’t help it think how fortunate/lucky any of the 3 or 4 invites who are in the London area and able to partake in this. I have never or don’t recall ,ever, of someone in the public eye and of prominence, extend such invitation to, oddly, strangers who have never met. Prof. my hats off to you and your sincere kindness to unite and not divide people, no matter who they are. That is certainly the message Jesus emphasized😍
Thanks. It’ll be a pleasure to meet some people on this side — a couple of whom I already know!
Thanks for such a great opportunity to meet you in person and have a chat…
I would be be interested but unfortunately it’s a short notice and I already have plans for that week – local holiday beside the sea.
Maybe next time? 🙂
Wow, that’s a really nice offer, Dr. Ehrman! I am currently on the wrong side of the pond to take advantage of this but wanted to thank you for the gesture and your openness in any case! I am sure the dinner will be delightful for all involved! Would love to hear how it goes.
Hi Dr, just a word of warning re. Sunday 11th, it’s possible England will be playing in the Euro cup final on Sunday night. Pending the result of the semi-final tomorrow this’ll be the first time England have made a major final since 1966, so getting people out on that night could be tricky!
Oh boy do I know. I have a very sporty family over here. Semi-final in 70 minutes!
I’m reading this on the 13th July. Have I missed this? Has it not been booked due to the slow response of people? I’d be grateful for an update 🙂
Ah, as the Bible says, “he who hesitates is lost.” Yup, I had one a couple of nights ago, and have booked another for next week. BUt I’ve had to make a waiting list, since there were more respondents than places. Nice problem to have. But I’ll be back on this side on and off and will do more….
What a pleasure and a priviledge it was to meet Bart on Tuesday this week and to have a good old chin wag. As has already been said, for a scholar of such acclaim, knowledge and prollific output, to make himelf available to strangers in the lay public!…….. well hats off indeed to Bart and much grateful appreciation. My evangelical friends, inlcuding a few clergymen, liberal Christian friends, (including an ex-clergyman 🙂 ), my new-age friends and atheist friends are all equally aghast that I’ve had such an opportunity. Thanks Bart, you’ve made my day and it was a lot of fun. Until next time! Cheers (PS we are going to try and set up and English Ehrman Blog Zoom discussion group)
Yup, that was great fun! Thanks for coming. Such intersting people on the blog, with stories to tell!
I am reminded of this lovely quote from the Titanic: “I got everything I need right here with me. I got air in my lungs, a few blank sheets of paper. I mean, I love waking up in the morning not knowing what’s gonna happen or, who I’m gonna meet, where I’m gonna wind up. Just the other night I was sleeping under a bridge and now here I am on the grandest ship in the world having champagne with you fine people. I figure life’s a gift and I don’t intend on wasting it. You don’t know what hand you’re gonna get dealt next. You learn to take life as it comes at you… to make each day count”
