At the end of each year, the blog highlights one of the charities we support through our ongoing charitable work. This year, we’re rallying behind the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina—a phenomenal organization that distributes food to those in need throughout my part of the state.

What they do is both astonishing and essential. They gather millions of pounds of food from farms, manufacturers, grocery stores, and individuals, then manage the enormous logistical task of getting it to where it’s needed most. The operation is mind-bogglingly complex—but the result is beautifully simple: they keep people from going hungry. You can read more about their work here.

This year, I’ve set a goal to raise $20,000 by the end of the year.
And to double the impact, I’ll personally match every dollar raised, up to $20,000—meaning together, we can send $40,000 to help feed families in need.

A Special Thank-You Gift: The New Testament in a Nutshell

To thank you for your generosity, anyone who donates $50 or more will receive an advance digital copy of the blog’s first-ever eBook, The New Testament in a Nutshell.

This book compiles and reworks my full “New Testament in a Nutshell” thread from the blog—a series I’ve been writing over the better part of this year. The thread walks readers through each of the twenty-seven books of the New Testament, one by one, summarizing their major themes and emphases, discussing when, why, and by whom they were written, and offering suggestions for further reading. Each post also includes questions for reflection and brief summaries of the summaries—an entire guided journey through the New Testament in plain, accessible terms.

For the eBook, all these posts have been carefully edited and arranged to flow like a cohesive book, so that readers can move seamlessly from one text to the next. It’s perfect for anyone who wants an easy, engaging way to revisit (or finally make sense of) the New Testament as a whole.

This special edition will be delivered to donors in January, and it won’t be available anywhere else. Eventually, we plan to make eBooks like this available for purchase on the blog (with all proceeds going to charity, as always), but for now, this is your only opportunity to get an early copy.

How to Give

  • Make your one-time donation at the bottom of the homepage (ehrmanblog.org) any time before January 1st.
  • Please end your donation in $0.02. (e.g. a $50.00 donation should be $50.02. We have two ongoing fundraisers right now and need a way to differentiate donations. If you forget to do this, please send an email to [email protected] letting us know.)

Jen will send an email to donors who give $50 or more a confirmation that they are on the list to receive the eBook when it is completed in January.

Every dollar goes directly to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, and I’ll match it dollar for dollar.

This blog community has always amazed me with its generosity. Together we’ve raised over $3 million for charity, changing lives through learning and compassion. Let’s keep that spirit alive as we close out the year, and help ensure that no one in our community goes hungry this winter.

Thank you, sincerely, for being part of this work.
