Our COO and organizer of all things blog, Diane Pittman, has sent along this announcement of the upcoming Book Club event, a two-parter that sounds unusually interesting.  If it’s interesting, are you interested?   Here it is!

******************************

It’s BACK…It’s BOLD…It’s BIGGER than ever…(Well, not really, but it’ll be as much fun as it usually is.)

It’s the Bart Ehrman Blog Book Club #3 (BBC 3).

Click here to sign up and get the Zoom link.

If you’ve never had a chance to participate in one of our BBCs, this will be a perfect introduction. Every person, regardless of your beliefs, is welcome. In honor of the Passover/Passion week, we will be reading just one book: “The Last Week: What the Gospels Really Teach Us About Jesus’s Final Days in Jerusalem” by Marcus J. Borg and John Dominic Crossan. This book was recommended for us by Bart. Click on link to order directly from Amazon; you may also be able to find it at your local library.

Because Passion week is the 10th to 17th and Passover begins on the 15th of April, we’ll have the first BBC3 on Wednesday night, 13 April 2020 at 8:00pm ET (Midnight GMT, 5:00 PM PDT)

As before, the first session will be just us blog fans discussing the book in small groups that rotate during the 90-minute session with occasional large group sharing thrown in.

Then, on Sunday 24 April 2020 at 3:00 PM ET (7:00 PM GMT, Noon PDT) Bart Ehrman will be joining us to share his insights and answer any questions.

The purpose of these extracurricular blog activities is not only to enjoy one anothers’ company, get more education and have fun, it also serves as a fundraiser. (As you know, all of the blog membership fees and donations go directly to the Blog charities.) For that reason, we recommend a donation of $25 to attend either or both of the BBC3 sessions. We don’t want finances to keep anyone from enjoying the BBC3, so please feel free to sign up even if you have to make a smaller (or no) donation. Larger donations, of course, are always welcome as well. (If finances are not the issue, but you’re just not sure the BBC is a good value for you or you’re uncertain you will be available at that time, then new for 2022, is our “Try it before you donate to it” policy. Just register for the BBC3, attend the session(s) and then make any donation that seems fair to you afterwards)

We look forward to seeing you on Zoom at the BBC3. Again those dates/times are:

Session 1:  Wednesday 13 April 2022 @ 8:00 PM ET (Midnight GMT, 5:00 PM PDT)

Session 2 (with Bart):  Sunday 24 April 2022 @ 3:00 PM ET (7:00 PM GMT, Noon PDT)
