Yep. The thought of peg-leg pirate Jesus leading his crew in the attack on the Sea of Galilee invariably cheers me up. And I like an early old forgotten video about how all the dirt on earth came from outer space. I do miss the three hour video lectures.

I know! The utter ridiculousness of it…

Judith! Are you insinuating that Steefen’s views are ridiculous???
Robert, I’m insinuating that this wonderful forum that should serve those who have something to say that’s meaningful and adds to the discussions is
open to everyone and some (me!) who have nothing whatsoever valuable to add. Then, there is the misinformation and disinformation that takes such an
effort to straighten out. Over the many years I’ve been aware of your efforts to be fair and even kind but it’s got to be wearing on your patience. I cannot
think of a good solution.

Judith, your contributions are invaluable. You remind us of the importance of being kind no matter how much our patience is eroded by ridiculosity.
So good of you to say, Robert, but there is a real issue here and I wonder how other blogs handle it. Could those of us who get off subject too many times or make contributions contrary to factual information simply be blackballed from future comments?
(And here I am, off subject again myself! 🙂

Yes, it is a real issue. I have indeed thought about whether anyone should ever be banned from contributing here because of crazy misinformation and nonsense. Personally, I don’t have the heart to do so, but I know some people think otherwise. The Internet is a vast wasteland, but this Readers Forum could be something of an oasis. “April is the cruellest month. …”

Google Result Text of an earlier version of a Wikipedia entry: 1 and 2 Corinthians are considered inauthentic due to several interpolations between the two.
Robert: There is one brief likely interpolation in 1 Corinthians.
Steefen: And what about 2 Corinthians?
Robert: 2 Corinthians has partitions.
Steefen: A partition is not an interpolation. Besides, your criticism of that statement probably means your partitions are not what the 1 and 2 Cor several interpolations are. The interpolation in 1 Cor is not a partition.

“Note what I’ve said about scholarly partition theories about both 1 & 2 Corinthians, that goes well beyond multiple interpolations.“
Robert regarding partition theories:
This is only about one brief likely interpolation. That in no way invalidates the consesus view that 1 Corinthians is an authentic letter of Paul. There are also theories that some extant letters, especially 2 Corinthians, are actually composite amalgams of two or more separate letters, but those theories do not maintain that the material was not authored by Paul, just that multiple letters may have been combined into a composite.
Steefen
An apt paraphrase is not a misquote.
The context of discrediting 1 & 2 Corinthians was interpolations. Out of context, you brought up partitions.
You brought up partitions. You projected partitions onto the google result. In the context of you bringing up partitions, I said a partition is not an interpolation.
You said you brought up partition theories. The original google result said 1 and 2 Cor have interpolations.
I am not talking about partitions.
Maybe you want to use faulty reasoning and impose partitions on interpolations. Again, “A partition is not an interpolation.” I do not accept that faulty move in this discussion.

We have a question about the seven heavens.

The Greeks spoke of the seven planetary spheres including the sun and the moon.
For Paul, Jesus has conquered all of these spheres.

Paul also says at 2 Cor, Chapter 12, Verse 2
I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of it I do not know, but God knows.

The Ascension of Isaiah has seven levels of heaven.

Paul has the same cosmology as second century gnostics.
See Barnabas 9:4. A wicked angel tricked the Jews into adopting circumcision.

Read Galatians 3 and 4.
Once we were under the tutelage of these wicked beings.
It’s not full gnosticism with a capital G that is Paul.
